Leesville Road Elementary 5th graders enjoy independently reading. In order to build metacognition and create challenging reading goals, we have created a Reading Response Log for each individual student. They log their time spent reading, daily, from anywhere, school, home or even mobile device. They also have access to the spreadsheet that publishes their data, building student capacity to analyze their own data.
Concurrent session for the 2014 NCTIES Conference in Raleigh on March 5th – 7th. Selection was extremely competitive this year. There were 270 proposals submitted to fill 109 regular concurrent session slots. We are delighted that your session will be included.

Integrating Technology into the Modern STEM Classroom
STEM classrooms need to seamlessly integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Learn how to use technology to achieve your teaching goals in any secondary science/engineering design classroom -- or any cross-curricular design classroom.
This hands-on workshop requires participants to bring a fully charged iOS device and a laptop if preferred. The class will commence face-to-face initially for two hours. There will also be two virtual follow-up dates so that participants can interact with the presenter using the technology integrated from the workshop. This will allow participants to experience the modern STEM classroom from the learners' perspective.

WCPSS is Going Google
WORKSHOP PURPOSE & CONTENT: WCPSS Google Apps is a suite of web-based messaging and collaboration applications hosted by Google and managed by WCPSS. Google provides these applications as a "service," rather than as software you have to download and install. To access these applications, you simply use a web browser on any computer that's connected to the Internet.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Maximize Google's range of tools for teaching and learning. This professional learning course introduces what each of the tools are and how to apply them, making the most of Google for Education to engage learners in collaboration, learning, creating, publishing and sharing anytime and anywhere using any web-enabled device.
